A brilliant team performance from Bradman House has seen them claim their second successive Parkview PS Swimming Championship after an outstanding day of competition at the Leeton Pool last Thursday 8 February.
On a perfect summer's day for swimming, three long standing records fell as Parkview students burnt up the pool with some impressive displays of not only skill but also sportsmanship and determination which characterises all Parkview activities.
Led by four age champions and supported by a high participation rate, Bradman House were clear winners on the day against Thorpe and Freeman Houses who never gave up throughout the day.
James Rourke wrote his name into the history books claiming the 12 Years Boys 50m Freestyle record stopping the clock with an impressive 34.75 to have almost a second of Rennie Simpson's mark set way back in 1996, while the Senior Boys Butterfly record that has stood for 22 years was also claimed by Rourke who lowered the existing mark by almost two and half seconds to record a brilliant 49.31.
Daniella Draper also etched her name into the record book with a gutsy swim in the Junior Girls 200m Individual Medley, stopping the clock at 4:04.09 to better Tamika Rourke's 2015 mark.
The Age Championships were again tightly contested with Connor Holden (Junior Boys), Daniella Draper (Junior Girls), Kobe O'Callaghan (11 Years Boys), Amelia Irvin (11 Years Girls), James Rourke (Senior Boys) and Tamika Rourke (Senior Girls) all being recognised for their outstanding achievements throughout the carnival.
All students who finished in the top 4 of 50m events and top 2 in 100m and IM events will represent Parkview at theLeeton-Narrandera PSSA Carnival on February 20. We wish them all good luck!
