The Parkview PS Cross Country carnival was held last week in pleasant weather conditions. The competition between all students was again a sight to see with all students at Parkview competing on the day. The addition of the basketball court provided another surface for students to run on with the remainder of the course appearing as it has for many years.
The Infants again delivered outstanding participation across all year groups. Kindergarten students skillfully navigated the twists, turns, corners and swerves with ease! All students who finished received a participation ribbon and much needed snack courtesty of Sunrice (packet of rice cakes). Thank you to Mrs. Helen Hopewell for sourcing this donation.
There were again strong performances In the primary category which featured impressive runs over both the 2km and 3km courses. Shaylan Protheroe (12/13 Years Girls), Riley Bradshaw (12/13 Years Boys) & Tamika Rourke (10 Years Girls) all produced commanding victories while Blake Ryan (11 Years Boys) held off a fast finish to land the title from Tyler O'Connell. James Rourke (10 Years Boys) ran well to finish age champion while Sonny Bradshaw (8/9 Years Boys) held off a fast finishing pack. Jaleigh Ingram-Pitts (8/9 Years Girls) successfully negotiated her first attempt at the 2km course winning her age group as an 8 year old student. What an achievement!
The closeness of the racing on the day was reflected in the Overall Pointscore with Freeman House winning the Championship for the second straight year. Thorpe finished second with Bradman very close behind in third. Congratulations to FREEMAN.
