2017 Athletics Age Champions

Freeman House has recorded an against the odds win to savour at the Parkview Public School Athletics Carnival hosted recently at the LHS Ovals Athletics Facility.

Conducted over two days, the event proved to be a historic one, with several long standing records falling thanks to some outstanding performances from various students.

The longest standing record to fall was also the biggest, with the Bradman Senior Girls team consisting of Makayla Bradshaw, Tamika Rourke, Makayla Connell and Kristen Bradshaw smashing a 20 year old record, stopping the clock in 1:02.65, shaving over 5 seconds of the existing mark.

In the field, Tamika Rourke also broke a long standing record in the 11 Years Girls Shot Putt. Rourke broke the existing record of 8.27m set by Renee Naumann in the year 2000, recording an impressive throw of 8.43m.

On the track there were more hot times, with Kristen Bradshaw taking more than a second off the existing 11 Years Girls 200m record previously held by Portia Marks (2015), stopping the clock in a lightning time of 32.39!

Participation was the theme of the event, with all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participating in a range of track and field events. High participation and excellent performance assisted Freeman to their third consecutive Athletics title, while some outstanding all round performances saw the following students crowned age champions in their respective divisions:

Age Champions

Junior Boys: Tallis McMillan

Junior Girls: Amelia Irvin

11 Years Girls: Tamika Rourke
