Parkview Public School hosted Leeton Public School in the first round of the NSWPSSA State Soccer Knockout at the Parkview Public School Oval last Thursday in both the Girls and Boys Divisions.
The Girls fixture was a thrilling affair, with the lead changing four times during the game, keeping the large crowd assembled on the edges of their seats until full time.
Leeton scored the opening goal after 9 minutes, Danielle Corney finishing some excellent lead up play from Elli Gill. The goal sparked Parkview into action, with brilliant defence from Sara Quinlivan and Anisa Cook providing plenty of midfield possession for Caitlin and Gemma Higgins. This pressure led to Parkview's opening goal, Chelsea Axtill volleying a brilliant strike from the edge of the box to level the scores.
Substitute Siarne Deeves was next to make an impression, converting for the hosts in a goal mouth scramble to give Parkview a 2-1 Half Time lead. Leeton came out with renewed enthusiasm after the break and were rewarded with a quick double to re-claim the lead. Elli Gill scored after 29 minutes to restore parity before she claimed the lead for her team minutes later with another terrific goal.
Parkview captain Chelsea Axtill then took control of the midfield, scoring a second goal to again have Parkview on level terms and was denied by the wood work moments later before Leeton scored a brilliant rebounding goal through Katie Chambers, who took the ball from inside her own half and buried the ball in the left hand corner of the net to give Leeton the lead with minutes remaining.
Danielle Corney finished the game for Leeton with her second goal to complete a 5-3 win for the visitors in what was an outstanding game of Girls Soccer.

The boys fixture, while not being as close, was a high standard affair, with free flowing soccer keeping the large crowd entertained. The classy Leeton PS outfit got the go ahead goal through Isaac Collins after 7 minutes, Cooper Sharman doubling the visitors advantage after 16 minutes with an excellent half volley from inside the box.
Parkview PS continued to work hard in defence, goal keeper Jaspal Gill displaying terrific poise under significant pressure. Bryce Demamiel eventually breached the keepers defence again late in the first half to secure a 3-0 half time advantage.
The second half saw Ziggy Vincent and Jacob Preston put together some probing runs Parkview to test Leeton's defence, Shane Nikoro and Jackson Preston proving resolute. The visitors were brilliant on the counter attack in the second half, Daniel Grundy providing a tough examination for the Parkview defence with some probing crosses that contributed to another 5 goals being scored.
For Leeton PS Bryce Demamiel, Kirby Chant and Cooper Sharman all finished with doubles, while Daniel Grundy and Isaac Collins both scored singles despite spending a half each as the goal keeper.
Parkview was well served by skipper Elijah Ingram who marshalled his defence well, while Angus Smith provided some excellent efforts.
