The commencement of Parkview Public School's 16 week Kindergarten Transition Program took place on Wednesday, with 47 eager children embracing the commencement of their primary schooling experiences.
Students engaged in a range of fundamental learning skill experiences during their initial 2 hours at 'big school', many enjoying the thrill of travelling to school on the complimentary bus service for the very first time!
Fine weather meant that outdoor activities including exploration of the adventure playground was a popular pursuit, whilst children also developed an understanding of school and classrooms routines, enjoyed listening to multiple texts read to them by teachers and generally settled into their new educational surrounds.
Kindergarten teacher Paige Frazer was very happy after the first day of transition. "The children settled very well and were extremely eager to explore their new environment. It is a credit to the preparation of our early learning institutions in Leeton as well as programs like our Winhangara Playgroup that the children come to transition so school-ready."
Parkview's transition program will continue every Wednesday of the school year until the end of Term 4. Parents yet to enrol their children are encouraged to contact the school's administration office to have their child included in the program.
