The Parkview girls celebrate a well deserved win.Parkview Public School has won the Leeton-Narrandera Zone of the Girls League Tag Mortimer Shield competition after a thrilling day of Sport at the Leeton Schools Ovals.

Played in fine but blustery conditions, the Parkview team coached by Miss Alana Hynard produced three brilliant victories to progress to the next stage of the competition.

In the first game of the day PPS recorded a comfortable 4-2 victory over St. Josephs, before defeating Narrandera PS 3-2 to set up a thrilling cross town clash with Leeton PS.

In the playoff match, the game was played at a frenetic pace, with Parkview establishing a 3-2 lead on the back of incisive runs from Ashleigh Cook, Samantha Pianca, Tess Staines and Kayla Mecham, while the defence of Nadine Hollies and Jade Paynter ensured Leeton PS were made to earn every metre gained when they were in possession.

The last 8 minutes of the match were very exciting with both teams pushing hard for the try that would secure victory. In the end neither side scored again, with Parkview hanging on and progressing to the Riverina Semi Finals to be held at  Jubilee Park, Griffith on Wednesday, May 26th.
