The jubilant Parkview PS Soccer Team after winning the LNPSSA Championships.

Parkview's Boys Soccer Team have achieved a rare feat for the school, winning their first LNPSSA Soccer Title in 20 years after a thrilling day of competition at the No. 2 Oval recently.

Parkview came up against the combined Small Schools team in Round 1 of the knockout, with a tenacious opposition mking it hard for the Parkview team to exact quality strikes on goals due to a crowded defence. Continual penetrating runs from Brandon Crowe and Cody Browne resulted in goals from Tyler O'Connell, Riley Bradshaw, Christian MacGregor and Josh Martin, pushing the final score of the fixture to 4-0 and qualifyihg Parkview for the LNPSSA final.

The final against Leeton PS  was the third successive occasion which both teams have played in the final (2013-2014) with LPS prevailing in each encounter. The Parkview boys were confident and instructed to play an aggressive brand of soccer to counteract several talented players in the LPS squad.

This was exemplified by Jay Gimbert who energetically marked an opponent for much of his time on field which resulted in an error which gave Tyler O'Connell our first goal of the game. After levelling the game the Parkview boys played with a lot of control and drive. Riley Bradshaw completed many solo runs which opened the game up and allowed Brandon, Tyler and Ben Schmidt to receive passes in attacking positions.

At last, Tyler O'Connell broke the deadlock with an awesome strike on goal! Parkview defensive players came to the fore and locked down the back half for a considerable amount of game time. Josh Martin played skirmish with the Leeton PS strikers who peppered the goals with three consecutive short range shots before finally the ball was cleared!

Tense spectators and a tense coach/bench breathed a massive sigh of relief. Corey Axtill was magnificent in defence. His vision and control across the defensive line (all day) paved the way for new players such as Jaxon Ryan and Jai Patten to play with more time. Parkview ran out winners 2-1 and progress to the third round of the state knockout.

Meanwhile, Parkview's Girls Soccer Team have performed with distinction at the LNPSSA Soccer Knockout hosted at the Parkview Oval recently. Drawn to play Narrandera PS in the opening match of the knockout, Parkview hit the ground running and were on the scoreboard inside two minutes thanks to a clinical strike from Shakira O'Connell before fine lead up work from Tateum Ingram and Madeline Irvin allowed O'Connell to double their advantage 5 minutes later. Despite dominating possession for the remainder of the opening half, the home team were unable to score, Narrandera dragging goal back on the stroke of half time to reduce Parkview's half time lead to 2-1.

The second half started brightly for Parkview, Ingram scoring a brilliant solo goal from the kick off, before O'Connell completed a rare hat-trick after 19 minutes to extend the Parkview advantage to three. Attacking play from Molly Gilmour and Portia Marks helped set up Ingram's second before the win was completed by a great strike from Jordyn Johnstone who benefitted from some fine lead up play from Emily Wright, the final score a 6-1 win to Parkview.

The final was a thrilling affair, played against Leeton PS. After conceding a goal in the opening 45 seconds, Parkview produced a stellar defensive effort led by Emily Wright, Zoe Locke and Samara McMillan who all provided a stern defensive test for their opponents.

Still trailing by 1 goal at half time, the Parkview girls re-grouped and earned a penalty with 6 minutes left on the clock only to see the shot hit the cross bar and the rebounding shot fly wide of the left up right. The teams second half dominance was finally rewarded in the 28thminute when Shakira O'Connell equalised after some great lead up play from Tateum Ingram, Portia Marks and Molly Gilmour, however time ran out for Parkview to find a winner, the game locked at 1-1 (3-3 on corners) and ultimately decided on the first goal rule.
