Parkview PS has won two games and lost two games at the LNPSSA Basketball Championships in Narrandera on Friday.
Drawn to play Narrandera in the opening round of the both the girls and boys competitions, both Parkview teams found it difficult to combat well drilled and talented Narrandera outfits. In both games the Parkview defensive effort was first class however we lacked a little polish when it came to converting scoring opportunities, and were hurt on the counter attack by the fast transition of the Narrandera teams.
For the boys Jack Quinlivan was ultra-impressive in defence while Dylan Browne was a colossus on the boards, pulling in a huge number of rebounds. Our girls' team was admirably led by Marni Elliott who applied tremendous pressure in defence while Shakira O'Connell was a handful for her opponents, controlling the ball well around the court in her role as a point guard.
Final Scores (Round 1)
Narrandera PS 24
Parkview PS 3 (Dylan Browne 2, Jack Quinlivan 1)
Narrandera PS 26
Parkview PS 1 (Marni Elliott 1)
After losing the opening round games, Parkview's teams engaged in the third place playoff games with small schools. Both teams played impressive games to post dominant victories. Our boys showed their defensive prowess to hold their opponents scoreless, with Bryce Pearce, Lachlan Holden and Brock Halls all notable for their defensive hustle. Nicholas Santos really picked up his attacking game scoring a game high ten points to compliment an incisive game controlling ball movement at the point guard position.
Our girls team overcame a tight start to run our 13 point winners. Samara McMillan and Alison Moller proved strong in defence for the green machine, while Zoe Locke's persistence paid off with 16 points and double figure rebounds in an impressive game!
