Parkview Public School has been eliminated at the Riverina Semi Final Stage of the Mortimer Shield League Tag competition despite to impressive performances against talented opposition at Jubilee Park, Griffith on Tuesday.
The girls met competition favourites Hay in the opening game, with defensive pressure of Hay proving difficult to handle early as dropped ball and passing errors proved costly for Parkview, going behind 5-0 early in the match.
Improved ball security in the second half ensured better field position and much more even match, the eventual score being 7-2 after 2 memorable tries from Tess Staines and some excellent work in defence from Carley Graham, Brodie Jones-Grieve, Hayley Graham and Alanis Wortley.
The second game saw Parkview go down 3-0 to Griffith North PS in what was a closely contested match. Gemma Higgins and Siarne Deeves provided Parkview with plenty of go-forward with the ball in hand, while Annie Samuelu, Irish Wheatley and Shikiah Ingram and Emily Russell also made valuable contributions to the team.
Despite the losses all girls can be justifiably proud of their performances throughout the series.
