Parkview has been defeated in a high standard Riverina Cricket Quarter Final against Hanwood PS on a chilly day at Jubilee Park, Griffith last Tuesday.
Losing the toss and being invited to bowl on a damp outfield, Parkview's bowlers started with some miserly bowling however the Hanwood team soon increased the run rate and were at one stage 0/109, however wickets from the Ryan Brothers and Cody Browne slowed Hanwood's progress and their final total was an impressive but chasable 4/129. For Parkview Jaxon Ryan got the figures finishing with 2/17 (4 overs) while Riley Bradshaw was particulalry economical, conceeding just 7 runs from his 5 overs.
In reply Parkview started conservatively, Ben Schmidt (5) and Riley Bradshaw (11) on the way to 2/30 off 11 overs, however captain Tyler O'Connell (37) and Cody Browne (26 not out) united to add 66 for the third wicket at better than a run a ball (a record partnership for any wicket for Parkview) to give Parkview a glimmer of hope, needing 36 from the final 24 balls. When Tyler was dismissed the chase proved just a bridge too far however all players and supporters can be justifiably proud of the team who never gave in, finishing with an impressive 4/102 from 25 overs.
A huge thank you is extended to Mr Stuart Browne who carried out umpiring duties on the day and also to the parents and community members who travelled to Griffith to support the team.
