The Riverina Rugby League Trials were held on Friday on a sodden track! The trials bring together over 150 talented Rugby League students from a range of schools within the Riverina zone. Parkview students Cody Browne (11 Years), Tyler O'Connell (11 Years) and Riley Bradshaw (Opens) vied for selection in their respective division as a member of the Leeton-Narrandera-Griffith team. Whilst team results are irrelevant on the day, all boys contributed heavily, with their teams recording wins frequently throughout the day. The Leeton-Narrandera-Griffith team dominated the 11 years division recording 4 wins on the day.
In outstanding news both Tyler and Riley have been selected to represent Riverina at NSWPSSA Rugby League Championships held this term. Tyler will contest the 11 Years championships held in Tamworth while Riley will travel to Wyong to contest the Opens. Both boys performed strongly on the day playing contrasting roles in their teams.
Tyler played in the halves for the majority where he led his forwards and sparked interest when taking on the line. He tackled well and increased his involvement in defence as the day progressed. Tyler was thrilled at the news and should be suitable proud of his achievement!
Riley who was battling illness on the day played in the forwards for the majority of games. He demanded runs and made metres consistently often dragging 2/3 opposition players with him. Riley crossed the line for several tries throughout the day on the back of incisive runs in the opposition 20m zone. This is the 2nd consecutive year which Riley has been selected to represent the Riverina in Rugby League. Congratulations Riley!
