Corey Axtill makes a break!

Parkview participated in the Griffith 7s Rugby Union Gala Day for the first time ever last Tuesday and what a performance our debuting students put together. In particular our Year 5/6 team, coached by Mr Quinten Longhurst, exceeded all expectations, racing through the pool games to qualify for the Semi Finals of the event at our first ever tournament. The defensive play of the team was a feature in the pool games against Griffith Public School and St. Patrick's Primary School, while in attack Corey Axtill, Riley Bradshaw, Shakira O'Connell and Tyler O'Connell were a consistent threat.

Qualifying for the Semi Finals, the Parkview run was holted by a talented and experienced Griffith East PS outfit, however our children can be justifiably proud of their efforts throughout the day. They certainly represented our school with distinction.

Scores:

Round 1

Parkview PS 20 (Tries: Riley Bradshaw 2, Shakira O'Connell, Tyler O'Connell)

Griffith PS 15

(Half Time 15-5)

Round 2

Our developing Year 3/4 team had a fun day at the gala day despite not recording a victory. Coach Amie Fazekas was extremely proud of the team for the way they listened and improved throughout the day. Jesse Watson proved to be a try scoring machine for Parkview throughout the day while Codey Browne was consistent in defence and attack. The future looks bright for next year in this sport.

A huge thanks is extended to the parents and carers who supported the children during this activity, in particular to Mr Quinten Longhurst and Mrs Amie Fazekas for preparing and coaching the teams.
