Chelsea Axtill has been crowned the Year 3-4 Premier's Spelling Bee Champion of the Riverina today after winning the regional spell-off at Griffith North Public School.
Class mate Sarah Quinlivan also performed well, finishing 7th among the 35 finalists.
Chelsea secured the win in the fourth round of competition, correctly spelling 'arsenic'. Both students earned the right to contest the regional final after winning through the Parkview PS Spelling Bee earlier in the month.
Chelsea will now travel to Sydney for the state finals of the Premier's Spelling Bee, to be held on November the 18th in Ultimo. The finals of the Premier's Spelling Bee will be broadcast live on ABC radio.
