Parkview Public School's Kinder 2013 Transition students continue their journey on their way to 'big school' this term with lengthened transition days and most recently the chance to meet the Year 6 Buddies for 2013.

The Buddy Program was established at the school many years ago to provide our youngest students with a familiar playground face whom they could call upon should they be unsure while they are gaining familiarity with the school's environment and routines.

Kindergarten teacher Jodie Boardman stressed the Buddy Program was an integral part of a successful transition program. "The Buddy Program means so much to all children in the relationship. For our commencing Kindergarten students it provides them with a familiar face in the school and someone they can develop an attachement to, someone they really look forward to seeing at school. For our Year 6 students it gives them a sense of responsibility and they really do take pride in the care and direction they provide for our youngest students."

'Buddies' meet regularly on a Wednesday during transition and have a chat over lunch and then share some playground and classroom time. When school commences in 2013 Year 6 students will again give up their lunch time to assist students and ensure they feel comfortable in the playground as they begin their educational adventure at Parkview.

Parents still wishing to enrol their children in the Transition Program can contact the school. The program will run Wednesdays 11.40am-1.50pm up until December 5. A complimentary bus service is available to provide transport for students to and from school.
