Students acknowledged at 45th Annual Presentation Night
The scholastic achievements of Parkview Public School students Kindergarten-Year 6 were acknowledged at the school's 45th Annual Presentation Night held recently at the Leeton High School MPC. Parkview Public School's Class of 2015 have graduated at a stylish function held at the Leeton Soldiers Club Auditorium on December 9. 34 students supported by their family and staff enjoyed a wonderful evening that marked the end of the Primary Education journey for the children. Kinder 2016 Transition students 'Graduate'
58 budding Kindergarten students having completed the first step of their primary schooling by graduating from the Parkview Public School Kindergarten 2016 Transition Program. Schools Spectacular Choir light up the Stage!
Parkview Public School's 17 strong Schools Spectacular Choir have enjoyed an amazing week and made a strong contribution to the 30th Anniversary Concert titled 'School Spectacular 2015-This is our World'. P&C Christmas Carnival a hit!
The annual Parkview P&C Christmas Carnival hosted on November 20 has again be hailed a resounding success after a brilliant evening. Despite the extremely hot weather, large crowds turned out to enjoy the event with children engaging enthusiastically with all of the activities provided including the inaugural 'Willi' Thong Throw. The community were particularly supportive and generous, helping to raise almost $5000 through the Ham & Toy Raffles, drinks and other refreshments on the night. Madeline a Moran Photographic National Finalist
Parkview Public School Year 4 student Madeline Irvin has been bestowed a unique honour, being selected as a National Finalist in the Moran Photography Competition. Madeline's photo, taken during a Moran Photographic Workshop hosted at Parkview earlier in the year, was selected by judge Nicole Jackson who adjudicated on thousands of photographs to settle upon the national finalists. Annual Excursions prove a highlight
Excursion week proved to be a real highlight at Parkview Public School in 2015, with all stages out of the school for at least part of Week 4 of Term 4. Stage 3 students (Years 5 & 6) made the trek to Canberra to enjoy everything the Nation's Capital has to offer including experiences at the Australian War Memorial, National Museum, Parliament House, AIS and much, much more. Grandparents flock to School for a big day out!
Hundreds of Grandparents flocked to Parkview Public School to enjoy the school's annual Grandparent's Day celebrations held on October 26. Open Classrooms, the promise of a delicious Devonshire Tea provided by the P&C Canteen and the sharing of modern educational experiences in classrooms kept the all members of the community engaged for a long period of time. Applications for student travel 2016
From 2 November 2015, a new online SSTS application process is being introduced for schools within the Opal network, coinciding with the introduction of the School Opal card. Schools outside the Opal network should continue to process the existing blue SSTS application forms and send them to the appropriate transport operators. Most parents, guardians and students won't need to apply for a school travel pass for 2016 if they have already been given a school student travel pass for the current year. 2016 school funding allocations
All NSW public schools are currently being advised of their 2016 Resource Allocation Model (RAM) funding. RAM distributes funding based on individual needs of students and schools, and gives schools greater flexibility to make financial decisions. The way schools use their RAM funding will vary based on local needs. Some support will be for the entire school, and some will be for particular groups of students or individual students. Stage 2 Natural and Built Project Expo
'Amazing projects' was the phrase on everyone's lips as they journeyed around the Parkview school hall viewing the hard work and effort that was the culmination of a term's work about natural and built environments. The students had to present a project that detailed a natural or built environment and write 20 facts about that environment. Many were iconic landmarks from around the world. Four Parkview students have participated in the Riverina Finals of the Premier's Spelling Bee at Griffith East PS last Tuesday. The students achieved some incredible results, with two students narrowly missing progression to the state finals in Sydney next term. Book Week Characters Shine
Although extremely wet, Parkview PS has hosted another fabulous Book Week Character Parade. The parade was once again our biggest parade ever, with over 320 students engaging in the parade, supported by a huge contingent of community members who braved what looked to be inclement conditions to support their children. Martin becomes first Parkview student to represent in Riverina Rugby Union
Josh Martin has returned from Warringah where he became the first Parkview student to represent Riverina in the sport of Rugby Union. Riverina played 7 games throughout the week against some extremely talented opposition, recording a 12-12 draw against North-West Region and defeating South Coast 24-0 on the final day of the Championships to finish 12th overall. Parkview PS students have recorded some amazing achievements at the 2015 Leeton Eisteddfod. Our ethos at the Eisteddfod is always participation. Riley Bradshaw has returned from Tamworth after representing Riverina at the NSWPSSA U/11s Rugby League Championships. Riley played well for Riverina generally as a Lock, proving to be a fine representative for our community. Rugby Union debut worth waiting for!
Parkview participated in the Griffith 7s Rugby Union Gala Day for the first time ever last Tuesday and what a performance our debuting students put together. In particular our Year 5/6 team, coached by Mr Quinten Longhurst, exceeded all expectations, racing through the pool games to qualify for the Semi Finals of the event at our first ever tournament. Parkview Public School students have performed with distinction at the LNPSSA Cross Country Championships hosted last Monday. Parkview Public School showed its AFL future is bright with some extremely impressive performances at the recently hosted Tony Lockett Shield AFL Gala Day held at the Griffith Ex-Serviceman's Oval. The Parkview Community has paid a respectful tribute to the ANZACs at two distinct commemorations across the weekend. Over 350 students, staff and community members gathered at school to share in a special ANZAC Assembly hosted by our School Captains in the COLA adjacent to the school flag poles on ANZAC Eve. Easter Hats brighten the last week of term!
It is always a wonderful occasion and the 2015 edition of the Parkview PS Easter Hat Parade was no different. A record number of students participated in the parade this year (approximately 320) while the huge crowd who came to enjoy the parade and share in a family lunch swelled the total gathering at the school to in excess of 800 people. Parkview Public School's Rugby League team has created a small slice of history for itself, winning the LNPSSA Knockout at the No. 1 Oval on Monday, the school's first Rugby League title since winning the Mortimer Shield in 2004. Parkview's representative netball team has impressed at the recently completed LNPSSA Netball Championships, finishing runners-up after a brilliant day of netball competition at the Leeton Stadium. Jumaadi Shadow Puppetry Workshop a hit!
Parkview Public School recently hosted the Murrumbidgee Shadow Play Residency, a program for young people in the Western Riverina region of NSW featuring workshops led by internationally recognised Indonesian-Australian artist, Jumaadi. Parkview's Boys Soccer Team have achieved a rare feat for the school, winning their first LNPSSA Soccer Title in 20 years after a thrilling day of competition at the No. 2 Oval recently. Parkview students have performed brilliantly at the LNPSSA Swimming Championships held at the Lake Talbot Swimming Complex in Narrandera on Friday. Adjusted School Hours Trial-Term 1
After positive feedback from the community, Parkview Public School will proceed with a trial of adjusted school hours for Term 1. The purpose of the trial is to better cater for improved outcomes for our students and to fit in better with the bus timetables that service Parkview Public School.
