NSWPSSA Athletics Championships

Six (6) Parkview students represented Riverina at the NSWPSSA Athletics Championships hosted at the Sydney International Athletics Centre last Wednesday and Thursday (October 19 & 20). The 6 strong contingent was the largest group of students who have represented our community at the State event for 25 years. 2017 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2016, all NSW public schools will receive a 2017 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. Parkview has been defeated in a high standard Riverina Cricket Quarter Final against Hanwood PS on a chilly day at Jubilee Park, Griffith last Tuesday. Sporting Schools Program's First Birthday Celebrations!

The final Friday of Term 3 Parkview hosted a visit from the Australian Government's Sporting Schools Program. The Program, through which our school has recently hosted After School AFL, acquired resources for the hosting of After School Touch Football and Tennis and have also received funding to host After School Activities in Rugby League, Netball, Soccer and Rugby Union, celebrated its first birthday and chose Parkview PS to acknowledge the milestone. Our Stage 3 students made a significant contribution to the Landcare Plantout Event at Fivebough Wetlands on the final Tuesday of last term. 85 Stage 3 students plus our Wiradjuri Cultural Dance Group were engaged in the day, with over 400 plants being established by our students and our Dance Group contributing a significant role to the opening of the day. As reported last week, Riley Bradshaw has represented NSW at the School Sport Australia National AFL Championships in Maroochydore, enjoying the experience of a life time and being named in the best players for his state in three of the five national carnival matches played. Tyler O'Connell has returned from the NSWPSSA U/11s Rugby League Championships after a memorable week representing Riverina against the best Under 11 players from across NSW. The Riverina team won 1 of their 6 games played, defeating North West 20-0, and were certainly competitive in their 5 narrow losses throughout the championships. The school has commenced the planning process for Kindergarten 2017 enrolments. After a chilly morning start at our school's Reconciliation Week Assembly, our Wiradjuri Dance Group headed to the preschool for a morning of shared learning experiences. Riley Bradshaw has returned from the NSWPSSA Australian Football Championships in Nelsons Bay with a silver medal after his Riverina team finished runners-up in the championship. Parkview's representative AFL team have done our community proud at the Tony Lockett Shield AFL Gala Day hosted at the Griffith Ex-Serviceman's Oval on Friday. Heidi Whyatt has been invited to take part in the Primary Proms Festival with the Riverina Choir at the Sydney Town Hall on September 22nd. Over 160 students and staff members represented Parkview at the Leeton RSL Sub Branch's ANZAC Day Observance today. Students wore rosemary and joined thousands of other Leetonians in honouring the ANZACs. Parkview has secured back to back LNPSSA Rugby League titles following a brilliant day of football at the Leeton No. 1 Oval. Drawn against a tenacious Small Schools outfit on the opening game, Parkview were made to work for their place in the final, Riley Bradshaw scoring early before a conversion from Tyler O'Connell converted to give Parkview an early 6-0 lead. In what was an incredibly busy week at Parkview, another other huge community event that was enjoyed by all was the Easter Hat Parade held on Thursday. As always it was a wonderful experience, with up to 800 people in the school to engage in the day. A huge thanks to all community members who went to the effort of designing hats for students. Parkview Public School's Boys Soccer Team have made it three titles in succession after winning last Friday's LNPSSA Boys Soccer Championship at the Parkview PS Oval. The opening game of the championship saw Parkview pitted against a determined Small Schools outfit. Parkview Public School students have produced some outstanding results at last Friday's LNPSSA Swimming Championships held at the Leeton Pool. On a warm day, out children's application and achievement saw the school finish second on the overall pointscore and win the Handicap Trophy for the first time in 15 years. Term 1 Open Day a great attracts hundreds

The popularity of our community's Term 1 Open Day was reinforced recently with hundreds of community members in the school to share in the learning of children across the school, with over 180 families engaged It was, as always, fantastic to see so many community members in the school and sharing learning experiences with the children. Parkview students enjoy success at LNPSSA Basketball Champs

Parkview Public School's representative boys and girls Basketball Teams contested the LNPSSA Championships at Narrandera Stadium, producing some very pleasing performances on the day! Round 1 Parkview was drawn to play Narrandera in Round 1 of both the Boys and Girls competitions. In the girls game, Parkview opened up an early lead before Narrandera pegged back the deficit to lead 14-4 at Half Time. Tuesday was an exciting day for our 26 newest SRC Representatives. After being elected by their peers, students were inducted during a ceremony in the Hall supported by parents and carers who assisted with the pinning on of badges. Thorpe makes it eight in a row (just!) Thorpe House has won a thrilling Parkview Swimming Carnival after a brilliant day of competition at the Leeton Pool on Thursday. Parkview Public School has been crowned LNPSSA Cricket Champions for the second consecutive year after an absorbing day of cricket at the Leeton High School Ovals recently. Winning the toss and batting in the first game against Narrandera, Parkview got off to a brilliant start with Ben Schmidt (8) and Tyler O'Connell (25 retired) adding 43 in 8 overs for the opening wicket. 60 new Kindergarten students have enjoyed their first day of 'big school' at Parkview Public School on Friday, attacking their first day with great enthusiasm.
