Come play this summer
These holidays, school playgrounds at 42 NSW public schools will be open for neighbours and others to enjoy under a NSW Government initiative to broaden community recreation and open space options. Schools in the program will be open from 8am to 6pm from 23 December to the end of the school holidays in late January. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding
In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. NAPLAN Online School readiness test
NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. Parkview Public School's Girls AFL Team has cut a swathe through some of the finest girls teams in NSW to claim the Southern NSW Paul Kelly Cup Girls AFL Title at Robertson Oval, Wagga Wagga on Friday. Freeman House has recorded an against the odds win to savour at the Parkview Public School Athletics Carnival hosted recently at the LHS Ovals Athletics Facility. Conducted over two days, the event proved to be a historic one, with several long standing records falling thanks to some outstanding performances from various students. Parkview claims LNPSSA Cross Country double for first time since 2001
Parkview PS has capped off a sporting period to remember by winning both the LNPSSA Cross Country Overall Points Score and Handicap trophy! For the students who contributed, it was their second attempt at their respective distances after Monday's Parkview Carnival. Quite a feat! In great Touch! Molly earns Riverina selection!
Molly Gilmour, Madeline Irvin, Tatum Marks, Makayla Bradshaw and Kristen Bradshaw all travelled to Griffith recently to represent the LNPSSA at the Riverina PSSA Girls Touch Football Championships. On a terrific day for Touch Football, the girls acquitted themselves well, winning three of the five games played on the day. Bradman claims break through Cross Country Title!
Bradman House has broken through for a breakthrough win in the Parkview PS Cross Country Carnival was held recently on the grounds of the school and adjoining parkland. Thankfully the weather was far kinder than it was previously (when the carnival was postponed). Parkview's netballers finish third at Riverina Finals Day
Parkview's representative Netball team contested the Riverina Finals of the State Knockout last recently at the Equex Centre in Wagga. The team reached this stage of the competition after winning the LNPSSA Championships at the end of last term. James and Jaxon are State Champions!
Two Parkview students achieve something that has not been achieved by a Parkview community member in 20 years. James Rourke and Jaxon Ryan represented the Riverina at the NSWPSSA AFL Championships in Parkes, with the boys part of a team that won an amazing Grand Final to be crowned state champions! Chelsea's excellent State Dance Camp Adventure!
Parkview has had a student selected in the Years 5-6 Dance Workshop being hosted by the DET Arts Unit at the Sydney Dance Company Studios. The workshop brings together 64 talented dancers from across NSW, with our student one of just 11 children from outside metropolitan regions invited to the three day camp. Parkview's representative boys and girls AFL teams have enjoyed a fantastic day at the Tony Lockett Shield/Paul Kelly Cup AFL Gala Day hosted at the Griffith Exies Oval last Friday. Parkview's Boys and Girls Touch Football Teams contested the LNPSSA Touch Football Championships held at the LHS Ovals last Monday. It was another very successful day for our students with our Girls team finishing as LNPSSA Champions for the 4th consecutive year and our boys team losing a tight first round match with Narrandera before accounting for Small Schools in the 3 v 4 playoff game. Parkview Public School paused recently to acknowledge and remember the thousands of men and women who have made such significant sacrifices to make our country what it is today. Parkview Public School has secured its first ever LNPSSA Netball Championship with a thrilling victory over Leeton Public School at the Leeton Indoor Stadium recently. The team played brilliant netball throughout the day, commencing with a sound 36-0 victory over Small Schools in the opening fixture of the competition. Parkview PS has enjoyed significant success at the LNPSSA Boys and Girls Soccer Knockout hosted last Friday at the Parkview PS Oval and the Leeton Ovals Precinct. Parkview has enjoyed a successful day at the LNPSSA Basketball Championships, winning their first ever Boys Basketball title and going very close to winning its first ever Girls Basketball title at Narrandera Stadium on Wednesday. Introducing Healthy School Canteens
The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold. Parkview Public School's elected Student Representative Council have been inducted at the school in a ceremony shared by students and families at a recent Assembly. Parkview has enjoyed significant success at the 2017 LNPSSA Swimming Championships held at the Leeton Pool last Friday. On a perfect day for swimming, Parkview finished a narrow second in the Overall Pointscore, won the Handicap Division, boasted three age champions and 14 Riverina Qualifiers. The drought is over! For the first time in over a decade Bradman House has won a Parkview Public School sporting carnival and they did it in style last Friday, winning the school's Swimming Carnival in run away fashion on the back of four age champions and an excellent participation rate from all students.
